The industry is exciting and diverse, encompassing various sectors, all centered around plants.
In the UK, the Horticulture industry is worth over £5 billion each year, with over 235,500 people working within it and another 120,000 new people needed in the next few years to fill all kinds of exciting roles! There really has never been a better time to get your Horticulture qualification.

We also work closely with the Royal Horticultural Society and the UK Charity Heritage Seed Library, even working to grow rare species of plants to preserve for future generations - so you can be rest assured that our expert lecturers are on the pulse of the industry, keeping up to date with the latest trends, developments and technologies.
Our Brooksby Campus is perfect for studying for a career in this dynamic and vitally important sector. As well as the fantastic 850-acre Brooksby estate, our horticulture facilities include five acres of formal gardens and state-of-the-art glasshouses.
Gunnera
These visually striking plants are HUGE! See if you can spot them around campus when you bisit us for an open day!
Also known as "giant rhubarb" or "dinosaur food," Gunnera is a large, herbaceous flowering plant with enormous leaves. Some species can reach up to 3m in diameter, and tehy have a unique symbiotic relationship with cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) in their root nodules!
Monkey Puzzle
The Monkey Puzzle tree, scientifically known as Araucaria araucana, is a large evergreen conifer native to Chile and Argentina and known for its spiky leaves!
Glass houses
Our glass houses are home to a huge variety of exciting plants, from super interesting carnivores such as venus flytraps and pitcher plants, to our fuiting passionfuit vine and large-leaved banana plant!
