Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Heat Pump Systems (Non-refrigerant Circuits)

  • Course overview

    Exciting developments are currently underway for a set of Air Source Heat Pump courses to be delivered at our Stephenson Campus.

    The new workshop is currently being developed in conjunction with Ideal Boilers. The area is designed specifically to promote the upskilling in this area and to help meet government initiatives and the zero carbon agenda. We are proud to be working with a leading manufacturer and are looking forward  to opening the new facility in March 24.

IMI Level 3 Award in Heavy/Electric Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement

  • Course overview

    The content of this qualification has been designed to give you the knowledge and skills required to work safely on heavy electric/hybrid vehicles whilst carrying out operational and repair activities including replacing components. This may include vehicles that may have or had damage to their high energy/electrical system.

    It contains two mandatory units:

    • Preparing Heavy Electric/Hybrid Vehicles for Repair
    • Heavy Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement

    Skills and knowledge of:

    • Making a heavy electric/hybrid vehicle “safe” to work on
    • Reinstating a heavy electric/hybrid vehicle
    • Working safely on a heavy electric/hybrid vehicle
    • Using appropriate information, tools and equipment
    • Removing and replacing (non live) high energy electrical system components
    • Recording information and making suitable recommendations

    This course is designed for service engineers who maintain and repair electric/hybrid vehicle systems and components. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work on electric/hybrid components and associated systems.

    The course delivers skill, knowledge and behaviours essential in the health and safety of individuals working on electric/hybrid vehicles components.

    On completion of this service engineers will be able to practically demonstrate that they have the skills required for Electric/Hybrid vehicle System Repair and Replacement.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell For MHD (Material Handling Devices)

  • Course overview

    This is a Level 3 vocational qualification which provides individuals with the knowledge and understanding of the skills required to work on Hydrogen Fuel Cell for Material Handling Equipment (MHE).

    The course ensures that you are aware of the hazards posed by hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) systems and apply safe working practices when carrying out servicing or repair activities.

    How to identify and understand the function and operation of different types of hydrogen systems and components and the knowledge to safely carry out the removal and replacement and testing of components in hydrogen FCEV systems.

    The course delivers skill, knowledge and behaviours essential in the health and safety of individuals working on hydrogen fuel cell components.

    On completion of this service engineers will have the knowledge required for hydrogen fuel cell System Repair and Replacement.

IMI Level 1 Award In Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Awareness

Available for Light Vehicle and Heavy Vehicle. 

  • Course overview

    The programme is designed to provide learners with an introduction to the knowledge of safe working practices, the dangers surrounding and the precautions required to avoid potential injury when near Electric/Hybrid vehicles.

    This Award sized qualification offers an introduction to this specialised industry sector which in addition to complimenting their current industry qualifications and experience, will enable them to continue to work safely within their role.

    What Qualifications Or Experience Do I Need?

    There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification and learners are not expected to have any prior knowledge or experience, however an interest in the subject area is advisable. The HSE advises that ANYONE that could come into contact with an Electric/Hybrid vehicle should take this course

    The content of this qualification has been designed to give the learners the knowledge required to work safely around Electric/Hybrid vehicles. It contains one mandatory unit covering:

    • The types of Electric/Hybrid vehicles available
      • Hazards associated with motor vehicle high energy electrical systems
      • Working safely around Electric/Hybrid vehicles including charging

    As a result, learners successfully completing this qualification will acquire significant core knowledge of working safely around, but not maintain Electric/Hybrid vehicles.

IMI Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicles Routine Maintenance Activities

Available for Light Vehicle and Heavy Vehicle.

  • Course overview

    The content of this qualification has been designed to give you the knowledge and skills required to work safely on electric/hybrid vehicles whilst carrying out routine maintenance and repair activities (not voltage components or systems). This may include vehicles that may have or had damage to their high energy/electrical system.

    It contains one mandatory unit covering knowledge of:

    • Electric/hybrid vehicle system components and operation
    • Hazards surrounding electric/hybrid vehicles
    • How to reduce the risks to yourself and others when working on electric/hybrid vehicles
    • Safely preparing the vehicle when carrying routine maintenance (NOT high voltage components or systems)

IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement

    You will have an interest in gaining the knowledge to work safely within the automotive retail industry as it continues to see an increase in hydrogen vehicles entering the workplace. It will provide you with an introduction to the knowledge of safe working practices, the dangers surrounding, and the precautions required to avoid potential injury when near hydrogen vehicles.
