It's National Apprenticeship Week! At SMB College we're so grateful to work with a number of fantastic local and national employers to support apprentices and provide exciting new opportunities.
Apprenticeships give you a great start in your chosen career. They offer a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, giving you the skills employers want and a nationally recognised qualification at the same time.
Did you know?
- There's no upper age limit on completing an apprenticeship, so it's never too late!
- It's possible to complete an apprenticeship in your current role!
- The minimum you can be paid as an apprentice is £5.28 per hour (but many employers pay more!)
- Apprenticeships are delivered up to degree level!

Apprenticeship Success Stories!
SMB College Group and Barratt Homes Bricklaying Apprentice, Greg Kemp, was announced as a finalist for Youthbuild UK’s Young Builder of the Year 2023!
Greg said “I thought everything I was doing wasn’t contributing to anything, I thought I was going backwards at one point and that all the work I was putting in wasn’t being shown. But out of the blue I got a message saying I was nominated, that my Tutor thought I was deserving and all the work I was putting in was starting to show back, it’s blown me away.”

Interested in Hiring an Apprentice?
If you are an Employer, hiring an Apprentice gives you the opportunity to train and shape the employees you need. At SMB College Group, we can deliver apprenticeships for both new recruits and your existing employees, and there are no age restrictions to becoming an apprentice, as long as the candidate in question is 16 or over.
