SMB College Group’s offering for Adult learners includes a wide range of FREE Level 2 Distance Learning qualifications for individuals aged 19+, allowing busy professionals to gain valuable knowledge, enhance their current careers, or even learn something completely new in their own time, around their existing commitments.

The college also offers a range of evening and part-time courses that take place on campus, allowing flexible learning opportunities for busy adult learners. Charlotte Musson, recently completed her Hairdressing qualifications over just two evenings per week with SMB College Group, allowing her to re-train, start her own successful business, and even win third place in the East Midlands for Best New Talent at the Hair & Beauty Awards 2023. She has also secured another nomination for 2024’s Awards in the ‘Best Home Salon’ category!

Open events

Now, the college is hosting several events where adult learners can find out more about college courses. Stephenson Campus is hosting an open evening on Thursday, February 29, 2024, between 5pm and 7pm and Brooksby Campus will be hosting its open day on Saturday, March 9, 2024 between 9am and 1.30pm. It is recommended that prospective students sign up and register for the events as they are very popular.

Principal Dawn Whitemore said: “We know how important lifelong learning is and we know there are lots of reasons people come back into education. It’s never too late to learn.’’

Charlotte’s success following her Adult Course

Charlotte explained: “I came across SMB College Group’s Stephenson Campus, which offered a hairdressing course two evenings a week - this was my perfect opportunity to learn hairdressing whilst still being able to work and study around my family.

“I have loved my experience of hairdressing at Stephenson Campus. In both my Level 2 and Level 3, the atmosphere has always been good and my tutors across both years have been brilliant! With their knowledge and support, I have been able to learn and become confident in hairdressing.’’

And Charlotte has high hopes for the future. She added: “I now have my own little home salon room and have already started to build a great client base. Hopefully, this will continue to grow and my little business, ‘Beau Hair Creations’, will become bigger and better in the future as I continue to learn more and more about the trends and techniques used within the industry.’’
