Hairdressing can be an extremely rewarding career for those who wish to pursue it. This course will teach you a variety of transferrable skills which will allow you to progress into specific areas within the Hair and Beauty industry.
Enrichment is a fundamental part of student experience at SMB College Group. To develop a wide range of industry skills and knowledge, students have the opportunity to attend guest speaker sessions and participate a number of workshops in barbering and long hair.

What will I learn?
The course includes 12 units and focuses on:
- Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
- Create a hair and beauty image
- Shampoo and conditioning
- Hair plaiting
- The art of dressing hair
- Themed face painting
- Providing basic manicure treatment
- Skincare
- Salon reception duties
- Styling women's hair
You will also be required to complete work experience.
You will continue to study Maths and English alongside your course.

It is essential to have kit and uniform for this course to maintain professional standards. Actual cost is TBC but will be approximately £55 for uniform and £40 for kit.

Assessment consists of a mixture of coursework, assignments, practical assessments and written exams.

If learners successfully complete this course and achieve Maths & English at grade 3 or above, you may progress onto Level 2 courses in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy.
