The purpose of this qualification is to equip learners with the knowledge and understanding to progress to further training in bricklaying at Level 2, and on completion at Level 2 to progress into a job role in the construction industry.

  • What will I learn?

    You will study units including:

    • Construction Health and Safety (this will enable you to apply for a Construction Operative Card CSCS)
    • Skills for Bricklaying
    • Further Skills for Bricklaying

    You will continue to study Maths and English and develop your skills as part of your study programme if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above at GCSE.

  • How will I learn?
    The majority of the course will be practical based, delivered in our industry standard workshops by qualified and experienced tradespersons. There will be some theory, specifically for the Health and safety element.
  • How will I be assessed?
    Assessment of this will be through the completion of four NOCN devised practical tasks and associated knowledge questions. This unit is internally assessed and internally and externally quality assured using the NOCN assessment booklets to evidence all learning outcomes.
  • Where could this course lead to?

    Successful completion of this course will allow learners to progress onto a Level 2 Bricklaying qualification or move into an apprenticeship to study at the next level in industry.

  • What qualifications or experience do I need?
    Learners will require GCSE English and Maths at Grade 2 or above. There will also be a kit cost associated with this course. More information will be provided at your Information, Advice and Guidance session, which takes place after application.
